We had the opportunity to work with the incredible designer and fashion sculptor Daniel Lismore as part of Sky Arts and the city of Liverpool’s ‘Statues Redressed’ project. Artists, designers and members of the community were commissioned to redress statues in the city to “challenge, celebrate and debate the role of monuments in the city”.
We brought Daniel Lismore’s concept to life creating a thought-provoking costume for the statue of controversial leader Benjamin Disraeli. Using LGBTQIA+ flags and Daniel’s signature domes to adorn the monument, the redressing asked the public to consider the lasting impact of anti-homosexuality laws on LGBTQIA+ communities in ex-colonial countries.
